Peter Coote will be attending the Roseville Chase/Chatswood appreciation dinner in recognition of our Club's gift of $3000 for the MRI head coil for the RNSH in collaboration with the Pink Ladies on Tuesday evening
Mark has sent out some 800 emails for the Melbourne Cup Trifecta. Members should have received their ticket allocation by now.
Tom has been working on a Public Speaking Competition for Year 6 students for schools in our area. Date to be set,but more than likely early next year.In addition,Tom's Theatre Group has a new show "Shrek" starting this Saturday.Any interest for the Rotary night on Wednesday the 17th please email Tom.
Peter and Celia Coote ,having just returned from an African Safari, came across a potential water development project in Zinbabwe worthy of follow up.
Andre from Chatswood Sunrise advised that some $40K had been raised in our area for the Farmers Drought Relief Appeal,including $15K in IGA vouchers.On an other subject, Andre is seeking support from Clubs in our area to establish a Rotoract Club.We only have 5 Rotoract Clubs in our District and there will be a meeting on the 25th of October to discuss.See details below.
Today our Guest Speaker was Nicole Sharp.Nicole is the Executive Director of the Tanya Pearson Academy located at St Leonards. She is the youngest daughter of Academy founder Tanya Pearson and since her mothers retirement 3 years ago Nicole has been the sole Director of the Academy.The ballet school has been in operation for some 50 years.Nicole gave a vivid description of the history of the academy,including various relocations, and the journey the girls,some coming from country areas,interstate and overseas, go through ,from the age of 10 or 11 years to potentially and in some cases becoming international ballerinas.

Throughout the year, many of our Members visit outside organisations who play a part in our Community. This week, our 'Youth Director' visited the Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) in Falcon Street, North Sydney, where he was met by the new Manager, Daniel. A Tour of the facility followed, together with Daniel relating the many Programs they run for the benefit of our local Youth.
