Visit by our District Governor on 19 August 2019
Next week we welcome our District Governor - KalmaMcLellan.  I urge as many of you as possible to take this opportunity to get to meet Kalma, and for her to understand our great club. Please take the time to read the club’s 2019-20 plans I have sent to Kalma & Ward last week;

Crows Nest Rotary 2019-20 Plans

Community 

Tree of Joy – In Conjunction with Chatswood clubs every December. 

Neuroblastoma – Sponsor & attend annual Sienna’s Gala. Founder is Lucy Jones who lives in Crows Nest. Targeting her as a member. 

Mary’s House – Women’s Refuge. Ongoing donations and projects to provide items like linen, whitegoods.  Strong supporter of Chatswood’s trivia night where profits goes to Mary’s house. 

Volunteer for Red Shield & distribution of Bowel Cancel Screening. 

BBQ for Xmas carols & Crows Nest Fair representation 

Just completed Farmer’s drought relief & donation of MRI machine to RNS. 

Potential Projects 

- Naremburn School caters for students kicked out of their own schools. 
- Re-engagement of Crows Nest Community Centre  
- D-Café in conjunction with Northbridge, North Sydney and maybe others clubs
- Dental Foundation – free dental for domestic violence victims 

Donations at Giving Night 

- Orange Sky - Showers & laundry buses for homeless
- Canteen Cancer for kids 
- OZharvest

Youth (some overlap with Community) 

RYLA /RYPEN – Continued sponsorship 

Phoenix House for Youth – Grant just approved to establish IT learning lab.

- PCYC (noted they already get Govt. Funding) 
- Engagement with Lower North Shore Rotaract 

Foundation

Continue donations / Support of ROMAC/Rotary Health

Vocational

Continue with Pride of Workmanship awards with other Cluster clubs. Feb/March

 

Public Relations 

Look into 

- Achievements to local Newspapers
- Pay Facebook to ‘boost’ our page 
- More stories on club’s Web page 
- Share eBulletin with cluster clubs (done) 
- Promulgate website address (on posters, community Notice boards) 
- Facebook education for members 
- Need more permeant recognition from community for our donations(i.e. Sign at herb Garden)

International

In conjunction with NGO SoTheyCan a Water Project in East Pokot schools, Kenya. Awaiting the Nakuru Rotary club(in Kenya) to past audit for Global grant processing.  

Working with Zimbabwe Victoria Falls Rotary on water project for Maryware village school. Initiated when two Crows Nest members on holiday in Zimbabwe. 

Sanitation project (200 toilets) almost complete in Mewat, India. Combined project with Beecroft. 

Monte’s East Timor Water Project for Learning Centre @ Maliana in architectural/proposal stage. 

Ongoing oversight of East Timor RYLA program. 

Donations to 

- Sponsorship of uni student Faith (Sr. Genevieve) in Kenya 
- Annual Dilli Orphan Xmas party  

Look into 

- Chris Anthony request for Projectors for his Teachers in a box 
- Project funded trip to Africa to visit these projects 

Membership

- Create compelling Value proposition beyond Fellowship/fundraising
- Brainstorming with Cluster clubs 
- Canvass local businesses (Ross). Poster in Ross’s Café 
- Establish link with Crows Nest Probus
- Schedule a BUSINESS EVENING

General

- Look into ‘more professional’’, but local venue

- 1 club discussion per month. Bi-monthly Director’s board updates
