Well, it's very cold in Sydney this week! Hope you are keeping warm!

This week, we had Noel Phelan, President of the Rotary Club of Northbridge talk to us about an historical Navy tragedy - Voyager and the aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne collision.

It was the night of 10 February 1964, when the destroyer passed in front of the carrier during post-refit sea trials. The Voyager was cut in two by the collision, and led to the holding of two Royal Commissions to investigate what happened that night.

As a volunteer at the National Maritime Museum, Noel provided some very chilling imagery, including that of the small escape hole and the boiler that would have burst in the collision and burnt so many innocent men and women in service.

We thank Noel for his presentation and bringing light to an important event in Australian History.

This week, we also changed venue, we moved next door while the pub conducts renovations. The new venue is great-with great technology, food and service.

A very big thank you to Cyril Clark and Ian Pocock for volunteering your time to help with the Red Shield Appeal on Sunday. It was a great team effort with North Sydney and North Sydney Sunrise Clubs, as well as the Lower North Shore Rotaract club.

We have a BBQ this weekend, our sincere thanks to those working the two shifts and volunteering their Saturday for our Rotary giving. We do change lives with our generosity, humanity and skills.

This week, we dedicated our International Toast to the Rotary Club of Gants Hill, East London

Finally, a reminder that we have no meeting on Monday as it is a public holiday - Queen's Birthday.

Enjoy your long weekend and stay safe.
