Our guest speaker this week was Jessica Coulson from Cammeraygal High School. Our club sponsored Jessica’s conference attendance in Cairns. Jessica spoke about her experiences at the conference and the benefits of the program. Jessica has agreed to be our main contact at the school for both MUNA and RYPEN as well as other projects involving youth in our area.
Again a reminder of our upcoming conference in March. A number of us are going but the more members going the more fun it is.
Last Saturday was our monthly BBQ, though it was fairly quiet, with the sponsorship organised by Mark we still made a good profit.
Tom is organising a joint Pride of Workmanship dinner with Lane Cove club, at a great restaurant in Cammeray on the 22nd April. Please start looking for suitable candidates for this award.
ROMAC is holding a luncheon on the 31st May. More information as it comes to hand.
MUNA is being held in May and George has organised a team.
Our next meeting is a night meeting on the 17th March. We will have as guest speakers a special presentation by the Three Divas. All welcome.
Due to the cancellation of our scheduled speaker, President Angelo has asked three of our recent members to talk about themselves. A chance to get to know them better.
Jessy , from Cammeraygal High School, was subsidised by our club to attend professional learning in Cairns. One of the subjects she teaches is aboriginal studies.
Jessy first gave us a big "Thank You", saying the experience was a transformational moment in both her personal & professional life.
Along with 20+ other educators, they camped for a week at a local aborigine community, experiencing underground cooking, story telling & shows. Seeing how they lived. They visited a school and saw how engaged the children were. They got to understand how colonisation impacted them, and observed how religion & spirituality co-exist.
After a successful Q&A, Tom thank Jessy for her refreshing talk.
We are invited to the the school's aboriginal studies open day exhibit, and we will follow up getting Cammeraygal High School engaged in MUNA, RYLA & RYPEN.
