PRESIDENT'S COLUMN
Dear Members and Friends,
Great results for the Red Shield Appeal held for our Cluster Group at North Sydney Australian Catholic University.   Over $26,000 was raised in cash, plus  funds collected through the QR code option ie using cards, which should see the figure more than double.   Many thanks to Cyril and Dot for supporting me. (see photo below), and special mention and thanks to Tony Arbon from North Sydney Club for coordinating all the activities with the Salvation Army.
Congratulations to Sue for finalising the District Grant for the supply of iPads to the Crows Nest Community Centre (CNCC) for their iConnect Digital Library.   An excellent Grant and thanks to Denise from the CNCC for organising their ongoing program.   Incoming President, Phil is now finalising next year’s District Grant for Phoenix House, along with a special project for Canteen Australia.
Don’t forget, we have the BBQ on again this weekend, so please check your commitment with Howard, and finally, if you haven’t already, please make sure you’ve booked in for the Changeover Dinner on the 28th of June (only four weeks away).
So, in the meantime, stay safe

Yours In Rotary

President Ian

Next Meeting is Monday 7th June on Zoom when our Speaker will be Paul Rogers, who is the District Officer for Ethics and Working with Children.

So click on this LINK at 12.30pm to join us all on Zoom.

We still are continuing to rotate every 2nd week between Zoom & Union Hotel so our meeting on 21st June will be Face to Face at the Union Hotel, cnr of West St and Pacific Highway at 12.30pm

Last Meeting Monday:  24th May 2021 our speaker was Dallas Worth.
Dallas is our District Officer specialising in Rotary Insurance, and Risk Assessment;
and reminded us that Risk Assessment is the responsibility of every member of Rotary, for example, minimising risk and alleviating it.  For example our BBQs are assessed by the Rotarians on an ongoing basis, securing assets and reducing the possibilities of say, food poisoning etc.  Dallas was emphatic that since last year, there is no insurance cover on Covid 19 and as a result of Covid 19.  if the Club comes up with an activity which is new then he suggested we ask our District Insurance Officer if the Rotary International Insurance, covers that activity.

International Toast - proposed by President Ian to Rotary Club of Westminster International Club, chartered in 1948 and unlike our club their average age is 45 years!
