PRESIDENT'S COLUMN
Dear Rotarians,

Again, great to see our club is functioning well in the current environment with the exception of our BBQs.  Guest speakers are continue to join us, without any Zoom issues, and we are able to show short videos which we might skip during a normal meeting.   Attendance via Zoom is very healthy – As well as remote members, we even had a potential member join us last Monday.   Remember your partners are also very welcome – the eBulletin highlights the speakers which may interest them.   I’m personally looking forward to a talk on Royal North Shore Hospital projects on May 18th.
We are still hopeful of our Changeover dinner at Northbridge Golf Club on Monday June 15th. Please put it in your diaries. We will have a much better idea after this Friday’s announcements on relaxing restrictions.
Ian is happy to receive any ideas for projects in his 2020/21 year.   His board is having a strategy meeting on May 13th as Grant Submissions must be in by May 30th.
Enjoy the rest of your week.   Stay safe.
Yours in Rotary
Mark

Editor's Note; Apologises, there are no photos this week as we are continuing to investegate taking photos from our Zoom Meetings.

MEETING ROSTER

         ROTARY: 2019-20

Our Next Meeting, via Zoom, will be on Monday, the 11th May 2020 when our Speaker will be Ornella Byak, on the subject of 'a Better Timor'.  - BETTER (Building East Timor Through Education / Resources)

BETTER works to empower Australia's closest neighbour, East Timor and is a pioneering leader in charitable education within East Timor, working with communities to give a 'hand-up' rather than a 'hand out.'
Education is fundamental to a BETTER future. From counting, spelling, reading, writing, common sense, and much more, education is the foundation.
BETTER boldly strives to create community focused leaders who strive morally and intellectually, challenging the status quo and driving change in their families and communities.
BETTER creates an environment that promotes the development of a well-rounded person. BETTER have an immense passion and a ruthless dedication to fulfill our promise to the people to 'Never give up' and 'Never forget about them.'

At our Meeting on the 4th of May, our Guest Speaker was Michael Kelly, founder and director of Kelly Speech Communication.

Our speaker Michael Kelly is a former speech pathologist and now business communication trainer. Michael immigrated from the United States in 1982 and has been working in his own business since 1992. The title of his talk was 'Give yourself a voice LIFT'.   How to anti-age your voice.   Michael explained, for over 10 years he has been interested in how older people can change their speaking voice so they sound younger and attract other people to want to interact with them. He shared practical techniques to achieve this change of; Speed, Ya Ya Ya, Wind and Acceleration.   It is impossible to reiterate the valuable content of Michael's presentation here on paper.  But, needless to say Michael'a presentation was not to be missed.  Thats why, despite our lack of 'face to face over lunch' meetings, you should tune into our Zoom Meetings to benefit from the great Speakers we have each week.
