PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

Hello, Members and our Rotary Friends receiving this eBulletin.
 
Firstly, this  week our club achieved a Rotary Citation for 2021-22. This means the club achieved or exceeded the Goals set in MyRotary. 
Special congratulations to Past President Philip and club members for this achievement last year. Only 14 clubs received this Citation. 
 
Secondly I need to give you a heads up that we have been approached by North Sydney Rotary for a possible merger with them.
We have agreed to start initial discussions and plan to have a discussion paper for our AGM in December. Secretary Mark, has emailed out more details. 
We intend to take a positive approach to this proposal, but please don't hesitate to feedback any questions or concerns.  
 
Thirdly it is with great pleasure to report that we have been allocated a District Grant for our Mary's house project. The project will provide funding for an automated & interactive computer system.  Many thanks to Sue for her work on this project. 
 
Please also note that due to numerous apologies we have cancelled our dinner meeting on Monday 26th September and will next meet on Monday 10th October.

​​​​​​Last Monday's Meeting on the 19th of September  
 
No speaker, but we had a long discussion about the request from North Sydney Rotary to merge. 
It was agreed that we should start initial discussion.  
We find this a positive move, and nominated Bill, Angelo & Mark for the working Committee. 
 
Note that we have been invited to their meeting on Thursday 20th October. An idea opportunity to get to understand their club.  
 
News from Members
 - We have been awarded a Rotary Citation for exceeding our goals for 2021-2022. Well Done. 
-  Phoenix House is holding a Corporate Breakfast on the 15th of November. Looking for appropriate guests to invite. 
 - Next BBQ, Saturday, the 24th of September. 
-  Leah has our stall for the Crows Nest Fair under control.  Looking for 4 volunteers to help man the stall for 2hrs each. 
 - RI is looking for anyone who wants to run a "breakout" session at next year's Rotary International conference in Melbourne. 
 - Rotary Polio Train Ride is scheduled for October 24th. More details are available. 
 - Our District Grant request for a Mary House project has been approved.

Bunnings BBQs
 
Thanks to Bunnings Artarmon, our Club has continued to run BBQs, which are our major fund raiser.  Although exhausting, we all enjoy them!
