Hello, Members and our Rotary Friends receiving this eBulletin.
This is my second message to you as the President of Crows Nest Rotary, for the year 2021-22.
Most of us spend our waking hours, at work or with family and friends.
We often hear snippets about the lives of our colleagues. Sometimes these snippets evolve into longer, richer discussions and friends grow to become ‘Great friends’. Irrespective of whether we have friends or simply trusted, family members, or professional colleagues – the relationships we have with one another form the fabric of Life. Rotary is a “community” within which we spend a considerable amount of our lives.
Did you know within our Rotary community we have amazing artists, authors, musicians, athletes and volunteer workers (to name but a few pursuits)?
When we hear about the passions of our colleagues, we understand more about them and what makes them tick. This makes us a better and more connected Rotary Club.
Last week, I was asked to tell the members a little about myself, my life, beginnings, and Rotary years.
So, at Angelo’s suggestion, we invite you in the future to tell us about yourself! Let’s share our pursuits and triumphs taking place within Crows Nest Rotary and beyond. For example, some members were surprised to hear, I am an active member of the International Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians, and regularly ride around Australia with other like minded Rotarians. We have a ‘Ball !’
Nowadays we have a wonderful platform to connect with our Rotary community, using Zoom. So, tell us about that; eg 10km Charity Walk you did on the weekend, the children’s book you’ve just had published or your prize rose bush you spend far too many weekend hours with. We’d love to hear more of your personal stories. We will book you in on our Speakers List for a presentation, on a
Monday using Zoom.
We’ll share your stories with the Rotary community in our weekly eBulletin. Who knows, you may find a partner in crime for your secret late night eg Karaoke jaunts.
Just an up date on another subject - volunteers to the D-Café will be expected to have had both COVID19 vaccinations when next the café opens, probably August if restrictions allow. It seems like vaccinations are going to be an inherent part of returning to normal life. So this week, emphasise to family and friends, “two Jabs are better than none, so go out there and get Jabbed!!!”
Stay safe and enjoy your Lockdown week. See you all on Monday next on Zoom, 12.30pm.
Yours in Rotary Service
President Philip
