PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

Hi Everyone,

Last Monday we heard from Luke Keighery President of the Northbridge Rotary Club. They regularly have about 20+ members each meeting - I'm sure we'll reach that level soon ! He brought us up to date on a Crows Nest Street Committee project called OKTOBERNEST. Whereby shops in Crows Nest ask patrons to either donate a couple of dollars or increase some items by $2 - with all funds to Rotary and then to the Intensive Care Natal Unit at RNS during October.  He wanted to receive our approval as the local Club.
We also had a potential member in Gen Leal (formally from the Chatswood Club)  She is keen to get involved with our projects.   Also receiving this bulletin is Catherine Heeney also a welcome potential member. Spoke to Marcella Zemanek (in Woollies) and she will be a member in October.   Things are looking up!
See you ALL on Zoom next Monday

Cheers

President Tom

Last Meeting - Monday 7th August    -  OktoberNest

We were joined by Luke Keighery, President of Northbridge Rotary.

Luke started with sharing what projects the Northbridge club was doing. This re-enforced the idea that we should be doing more joint activities with other clubs in our cluster.
Starting with Rotary's involvement in OktoberNest which includes Crows Nest retailers having Cocktail Specials, German Beers on Tap, Extended Happy Hour, Apple Strudel Desserts, Jagermeister specials, Bavarian Hot Dogs, Pretzel Bar Snacks, Steins, Schnapps, and German Wine or just making their shop more festive. This is planned to happen for the month of October.

KEY is that they be raising money for the NCIU, for premature babies, at Royal North Shore Hospital in conjunction with Rotary.

Tom & Ross agreed to work with Luke to make this happen for our 2 clubs.
