PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

Dear Friends at Crows Nest

Good turnout with the travellers slowly returning. Surprise guest Foundation Chair David Rivett of the North Gosford Club gave a brief overview of the Rotary Foundation and the grants that are available.

ROMAC is looking for volunteer drivers, hosts and members to join the executive team. This is a great program and one well worth supporting if you have some spare time.

The RLI Program has been expanded and now comprises of 3 stages. More information as it comes to hand. This is a great learning program for new and not so new members.

Northbridge Club are having a special night as part of their purple shirt Domestic Violence Program on the 20^th August. I will be sending out an email to all members with more information as I think this is a program we should become involved in.

Welcome to Adrienne St Clair our newest member.

Chatswood Roseville are having a Trivia night unfortunately also on the 20^th. If you are interested please let me know, tables of six.

The two Phillips Special lamps for the treatment of jaundice in newborns for the Neo Natal Clinic at RNSH have been ordered.

I need a couple of members to join me at the next cluster meeting on Saturday 24^th of August. This is a long session to discuss and plan the future of our clubs. I have an agenda for those interested in coming along.

This Saturday is a BBQ day. All teams are set and raring to go.

Our next meeting is a night meeting with a special guest speaker organised by Tom.

Meeting Responsibilities Roster

Our next meeting is Monday 19th August, Dinner meeting with Denise Ward.

Denise Ward, CEO of the Crows Nest community Centre, will speak to us about Dementia.

In conjunction with Sue & then President Mark, Denise established and now oversees the our Rotary D_Cafe at her centre.

As well as working with her clients impacted by dementia, she also has attended a number of courses on the topic,

and has worked with other related groups outside the D-Cafe. Her presentation has been well received by other Rotary clubs within our District.

Toast: Mark toasted the Rotary Club of Lake Taupo, NZ

David Rivett gave a quick overview on the Rotary Foundation. Key points includes

- Process & Criteria for getting a grant

- Deadline for this year's grants have been extended, as only 16 clubs has applied to date. Spare $.

- Australia project limit is $2500 and for International grants $5000. Joint club projects can be more.

- Sustainability is a key factor in getting the grant approved.
