Last Monday President Sue was on leave and Past President Alon managed the meeting:
"it is with pleasure I step in for President Sue, however there are quite a few Members who are currently on leave. What our Club needs, are new members, and the task of inviting people to Rotary is a responsibility of all of our current Members, me included! Believe me when I say, there are a host of people out there who like us, have, or have had, a successful life and career, and now feel they want to 'give back' to our Community. All we have to do is invite them to our meeting (and mentor them through the many Rotary acronyms!)
Last Monday our Member and Past President Howard gave a presentation upon his recent visit to Madagascar (officially the Republic of Madagascar) and previously known as the Malagasy Republic, is an island country in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of East Africa. See more below.
And remember, due to holidays, there will be no meetings on Monday 17th September and Monday 1st October 2018".
Next Meeting Monday - September 24th - presentation from Peter Alwood on 'CanTeen', which is here for you if you're 12-25 and cancer has turned your world upside down.
We get it. Just when life should be full of possibilities, cancer crashes into a young person’s world and shatters everything. Cancer pushes them back in to the nest, makes them grow up too fast and weighs them down with worries they’re not supposed to have yet.
By feeling understood and supported, young people develop resilience and can rebuild the foundations that crumbled beneath them when cancer turned their life upside down. That’s how CanTeen is the difference. But lets not steal Peter's thunder, come along to our meeting on Monday 24th September and hear what Peter has to tell us about 'CanTeen'.
Last Meeting - Monday 11th September, 2018, Howard Sullivan and his recent visit to Madagascar
Howard's presentation tended to concentrate on the places and people and the broader assistance that the Rotary Club of Gosford North has provided to 'Thrive Madagascar', such as:
- clothing for children and some women
- toys and games for the children
- power tools for the TM staff to assist building amenities
- days for girls kits & sewing machines so they can make there own
- solar lighting 1200 lights were taken over to Madagascar for distribution to the villagers in areas without electricity and
- Water project/s
