Firstly, a big Thanks to Sam Quinn for running an initial club ‘Health Check’ last Monday. Sam is working with the District Governor in reviewing what makes good club ‘tick’ and has visited a number of clubs with her.
This week he focused his attention on our club, and whilst we only covered three of nine topics it was extremely well received, and we will have another session early next year. Topics covered this week were meetings, community activities and retention of existing members, and I plan to get formal approval for some of his recommendations at December’s board meeting.
We also welcome the new CEO of the Crows Nest Community Centre, Mark Thompson, as well as thanking Denise Ward for her work with us over recent years. We also agreed at the meeting we will run the BBQ at the Crows Nest carols on Sunday 14th December.
I spoke to Past Presidents Angelo and Sue who are currently sailing from Rome for Malta and having heaps of fun but send their best wishes. It is also pleasing to report that Bill and Tom will be both be able to join us on December 15th despite some recent health challenges.
Finally, a few reminders. Please note our next meeting has been deferred to Lunch on Monday December 8th, which is also a board meeting. We already have 19 who have responded to our Giving Night Invite on December 15th, if others could RSVP it would be appreciated. Ross is still collecting Melbourne Cup trifecta money.
As a way of saying thank you to Rotary for giving your time in 2025, we would like to invite you and any other fabulous volunteers from Rotary to afternoon tea on Thursday 27 November from 1:45 - 2:30pm in our school staffroom. For catering purposes, please RSVP by Friday 21 November using this link. https://forms.gle/epbHzH3EAFxWzh4q6

As Mark mentioned, Sam Quinn ran a very engaging club discussion. Topics included governance, fund raising and community engagement. There were many thoughts shared and there will be future meetings to further the conversation.
