Well, wasn’t it great to be back with our first “face to face” Meeting since March last year. Yes, it was that long ago. And we must say what a great job the Union Hotel did in welcoming us back. While the location is not ideal, in terms of being Crows Nest central, in all other aspects they ticked the boxes, so thanks to Dean and Staff at the Union.
Not to be outdone, we had Phil on Zoom from the swinging Sunshine Coast, so that way we can also cover Members who are unable to join us physically, but can do on line. Please note, President Elect Phil is eventually returning to Sydney next month, so all those nasty rumours are definitely not true.
Unfortunately no updates on the BBQ reopening, so Cyril will keep close contact with Bunnings for hopeful changes in the near future.
Finally, for our first Meeting ,nice to see two new visitors in Nicole and Bushan. I’m sure we all look forward to seeing them again and join in our other activities as they evolve.

Last Meeting Monday 18th January 2021 - Club Discussion
This was our first live meeting for 12 month, formal with no Guest Speaker(few available in the holiday period). President Ian did welcome two guests (Nicole & Busan) who were interested in what Rotary does !
Sue presented the last of our Tree of Joy gift cards to Liz De Rome, of Taldumande House.
Round the table took the whole meeting ! so no time for internal discussion.
Also a reminder the Cyril has five $100 Bunnings vouchers that are available for purchase from Cyril. If you intend purchasing anything at Bunnings please purchase one of these. These vouchers are Bunnings compensation for no BBQs, and much needed funds for the club. You can spend the $100 over multiple visits.
- For the next few weeks, we will be trailing the concept of every 2nd meeting on Zoom, with a LIVE meeting at the UNION hotel.
- Sue will be confirming D_Cafe volunteers for Feb 3rd training with the first D_Cafe deferred to March 31st(TBC).
If you have a "client" for the D_Cafe, please let Sue know.
- BBQs at Bunnings are still suspended until further notice. Howard is working on forming 2 BBQ teams which will cover 2 BBQ days for a month. This is draft roster with only the Dates to be added, once we get the go ahead. Latest & updated instructions will be circulated to the team captains, as Bruce will no longer be available on weekends.
- Club video being worked on by Ian & Phillip.
- Rotary Foundation is having a final End Polio push so they can reach $25 Million to get maximum use of Bill Gates's 2 for 1 offer.
- A Thank You was received & circulated from Bill Crowe's family.
