PRESIDENT'S COLUMN
Dear Rotarians,
On Monday afternoon Sue, Kate & I attended the initial meeting looking at the feasibility of establishing a D(dementia)-Cafe in Crows nest.  We were joined by North Sydney, North Sydney Sunrise and Northbridge Rotary clubs, as well as the Crows Nest Community Centre (likely venue). It was an extremely productive meeting, and we should know by Xmas if the project is viable, and be into the planning phase.  I look forward to supporting Sue & Kate in this initiative and we will share more details with you early next year.
Our Giving night/Xmas party has been locked in for the evening of Monday 9th December, so please diary this key event.  Also, look forward to seeing as many as you as possible at next Monday’s AGM.  A great opportunity to hear the directors give you an update for our key activities.
Yours in Rotary
Mark

         ROTARY: 2019-20

Next Meeting Monday 25th of November- Our Annual General Meeting

Next Monday will be our AGM when we review this year, AND, select our new office bearers for the following Rotary Year. This is our most important Meeting of the year and we urge ALL members to attend.

Please note, we are changing location, back to the Crows Nest Hotel, upstairs in the Boardroom

Last Monday's, the 18th of November, Meeting

Our Guest Speakers were Neil Dix, Lani Tan and Anthony Perrau from Sydney Metro to talk about Crows Nest tunneling and Victoria Cross Station

Neil Dix is the Communications Manager -  Tunnel and Station Excavation - Sydney Metro, Lani Tan in the same group making the presentations, while Anthony Perrau is also a Communications Manager, but involved with the actual stations

The first stage of the Sydney Metro is now operational. Neil, Lani, and Anthony from Sydney Metro provided an overview of the Sydney Metro project, focusing on Victoria Cross Station and Crows Nest Station features and construction progress. They provided an overarching view of the current project and Anthony presented on the construction at Victoria Cross, providing a look "under the hood" explaining the work they have been doing.

Neil and Lani spoke on the tunneling status, with the Chatswood to Crows Nest leg being completed and now working on the Crows Nest to Victoria Cross(North Sydney Station) and onto Barangaroo, under the Harbour. The tunnel will be approximately 30 metres below ground level, while under the Harbour, up to 40 metres below. The boring machine works on achieving 50 metres per day, an incredible fete for the diameter of the hole.
