Hi Rotarians and Friends,

Our guest speaker this week was the DG Niranjan Deodhar. A great presentation followed with his vision of where Rotary is and where it should be going. It is a pity he has only one year as DG, but one can only hope that the DG’s following continue what he has begun. I will send his power point presentation to you all via club runner.

I found it most refreshing that we finally have someone wanting to try different ideas and not just keep repeating what was done in the past.
Eight of us attended the Chinese New Year dinner with North Sydney Sunrise Club at Lee’s Fortuna Restaurant. Great food and fellowship. We will definitely be using this venue for some future night functions.
Again a reminder of our upcoming conference in March. A number of us are going but the more members going the more fun it is. One of the Keynote speakers is Eddie Pinto, my right hand man in Timor. Eddie oversees RYLA and RYPEN in TL. Also we are looking at having a joint meeting with Mosman, Northbridge and Lane Cove Clubs the week after the conference where Eddie will give a different presentation.
Last Saturday was our monthly BBQ, though it was fairly quiet, with the sponsorship organised by Mark we still made a good profit.
Tom is organising our Pride of Workmanship dinner at a great restaurant in April. Please start looking for suitable candidates for this award.
Ryde Club is holding a Trivia night on the 22nd February. Tables of eight. If anyone is interested in forming a team please let me know.
Chatswood Roseville a holding a wine tasting and dinner on the 14th March to raise money to apply for a global grant for a water project in Sri Lanka. Guest entertainer is Kamahl.
Our next meeting is a night meeting on the 17th with special guest speaker our RYLA candidate Lucy Cadwallader. Not to be missed.
A reminder we have a board meeting via Zoom on Thursday 13th at 5pm. All members are welcome to join in.

Yours in Rotary,

Angelo

Niranjan walked us thru his key areas of focus, with assigned leaders,  those being
  People - Interclub collaboration
Partnerships - Schools & councils, etc
Public Image - Storybank of achievements

Then trends he has seen in clubs
 - Balance of local / global
 - Investment in youth
 - engagement with district news
 - addressing inequality
 - partnerships with other clubs
 - hoisting Major events
 - extending list of friends/volunteers
 - succession plans

He closed by extending an invite to the district conference, including "Pitch for Purpose" - a school environment challenge.

We thanks him for renewed approach to addressing these ongoing issues.
