A very quiet week, with heaps of apologies for Monday's Lunch. I hope Angelo, Sue & Kate are enjoying their holidays.
Others had commitments, so good timing we have next Monday as a break.
I attended a meeting at Phoenix House with Mark last week, where we hope , along with 5 other rotary clubs,  to support them run a "corporate" breakfast to attract a few more sponsors.

​​​​​​Last Monday's Meeting on the 5th of September  
 
Secretary Mark gave a brief overview of this 20 days in Las Vegas for the World Poker Championships. 
While Mark had no success in his results, the experience was well worth it. It was entertaining to scratch the surface of professional poker, and the sheer size of the operation of managing over 10,000 poker players was mind blowing! 
We also took the opportunity to discuss the latest changes to international travel. For example the only key factor now appears to be that you have proof of COVID vaccinations.

News from Members
 - Phoenix House is holding a Corporate Breakfast on the 15th of November .Michael McQueen will be speaking and Tom Sweeny will be M/Cing.
   We have agreed to fill 2 tables ($600) and we will be looking for appropriate guests to take. 
-  Next BBQ, Saturday, the 10th of September. 
 - North Sydney Federal MP(Kylea Tink) has $70,000 available for "community grants". Ideas welcome. 
 - ShelterBox is heavily involved in the Pakistan floods where tens of thousands have lost their homes. 
 - Presidents will be voting on Regionalisation in the next fortnight. 
 - Bunnings have advised that our 2nd weekend BBQ every month is now open to all charities. Whilst our income will dip, this will ease the pressure on finding volunteers. 
 - We agreed for the monthly dinner, that guests are free, and for partners it is optional to pay.
