In was great to have Assistant Governor Ward Pollard at our meeting again this week. Last weekend Ward and Howard met with lower north shore Rotaract members and are making progress on engaging them in some of our activities.
Key item I would like you to think about this month is our AGM on November 25th. We are seeking nominations for President as well as board directors for the July 2020 until June 2021 year. Please give it serious consideration and don’t hesitate to call me, if you want to discuss.
We have finalised our move back to the Crows Nest hotel. It is scheduled for Monday November 11th, so please watch this eBulletin for confirmation.
Finally we have the Crows Nest Fair this Sunday, so I’m looking forward to the feedback next Monday. Great opportunity to let our community know what we are doing.
Annabelle Chauncy OAM, is presenting the School for Life Foundation
School for Life Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation working in rural Uganda. We empower communities to help. Themselves and create their own opportunities.
To do that, we build schools to provide communities with a quality education, including primary and secondary schooling, vocational training and other services – such as employment and healthcare solutions.
With your help we can transform developing communities in emerging countries to become educated, productive, sustainable and profitable places – where people can enjoy a healthy, happy and more prosperous future. Two young, passionate Australian entrepreneurs, Annabelle Chauncy OAM and David Everett OAM founded School For Life in 2008. Annabelle and Dave met whilst working as volunteers in Kenya, where they became convinced that education is the only real way to mobilise a community and create a positive and sustainable future.
Last Mondays Meeting the 14 October 2019, Vernon Kringas
New Futures Australia. Vernon has had this underlying desire to help make the world a better place but hasn’t done anything about it. A few years ago he came across Modern Monetary Theory, which is a theoretical framework for understanding how a modern money systems work.
Vernon considers; monetarily sovereign countries like Australia, issue their own currency and, therefore, their finances bear no resemblance to that of a household. The limit to spending is inflation, which is determined by the availability of real resources. Vernon says he understands its veracity and considers it has implications for solving many social problems including improving the well-being of all Australians. He says that the only way to actually leverage this opportunity is to be in federal government and that means politics.
