Hi Rotarians and Friends,

What a hectic week. Saturdays BBQ was most successful no left overs, full rosters and no hiccups,
Sunday was the Crows Nest Festival. Lea again excelled in her organisation of the event. Over 170 children participated in the competition and we have four prospective members for Ross to follow up. Great day and thanks to all who participated.
Another very successful night meeting with our guest speaker Nick who spoke about his experiences at MUNA. Again it highlighted what a difference our Youth programs make for the participants.
Our night meetings are becoming more popular especially since the weather is starting to warm up. We have some very interesting guest speakers who will present over the next couple of months Tom and Kate are checking out bigger and better venues for the future.
Louise and Catherine are participating in the Mary’s House 10 klm walk this Sunday in support of a Domestic Violence fundraiser. All welcome to join or sponsor Louise and Catherine.
This coming Wednesday 30th at 10.30am Louise has arranged the handover of the two Light Units for Jaundice treatment to the Neonatal unit at RNSH. All members are welcome to attend.
Members are reminded that your six monthly fee is now due.
Early bird bookings for the conference are open now. It would be great if we can build on the numbers that went last year.
Only two weeks to Melbourne Cup Day. Please ensure you sell all your tickets. Club sales are up this year with some clubs taking the $5 option. If you need more tickets please let me know as I still have some left.

YIR,
Angelo

Last Meeting  - Monday 21st of October - MUNA - Nick.

University student Nick Rugg, who the club sponsored to attend MUNA(Model United Nations Assembly) in his last year at Lindfield school, spoke to us about his experience, and the impact it had on him.

Nick first hurdle was that fact his team of 3 representing China, was reduced to himself after two late withdrawals. But he managed that challenge and gave us the following feedback.

He reignited his public debating skills which he has taken onto Uni, as well as his legal studies often refer to the United Nations. The experience was 'enriching' and gave him confidence to 'try & fail'. Nick has a BIG thank You to Rotary.

The club was extremely impressed with Nick's feedback and his overall maturity and clarity of thoughts. We are happy to sponsor Nick for RYLA.  His supporting parents & grandparents should be proud.

CROWS NEST FAIR 2024

The club participated in the Annual Crows Nest Fair, along with numerous other local charities & local businesses.  This year it was great to have Mary’s House joined us.  As usual it was fun to interact with the “locals” and ‘fly the Rotary flag’.  Even better was the expressions of interest in becoming members of Rotary from at least 7 individuals on the day.
Many thanks to all the members who assisted, engaging with the community proudly representing the values of the Club and Lea Condell who co-ordinated the set-up and manning of the stall.
