PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

Dear Friends in Crows Nest

What a great guest speaker we had last night at the Crows Nest Hotel?   Don Napper(Nth Syd Sunrise Rotary) gave a very informative and humorous insight into early life of COKATOO ISLAND where he'd been a guide for 10 years after retirement.   Convicts, ship building, women's prison, dry docks, and now camping.   We have such a treasure of history in that island.
Thank you to the faithful members who attended last night, We had some apologies however I was hoping for a better attendance.   More discussions to follow.
CROWS NEST FAIR Saturday October 15, not far away.  Lea and I have some plans and she has a roster for members to attend.   We gained good membership interest last year (e.g. Louise) so hopefully more to come.  COLES and BBQ supplies is still an ongoing issue however Bruce is having heavy discussions on that front with COLES.  Bread freshness is also a issue.
DG Christine is asking us all to consider the Walk Against Domestic Violence by Rotarians, more details to come. Thanks to Louise, our BUDDY BENCHES project with Cammeray and North Sydney schools is nearing completion, very exciting and will gain much needed publicity for Crows Nest Rotary.
Onward and upward, NO meeting next Monday (public holiday), NEXT MEETING October 9 at Crows Nest Hotel.  Be there!
Cheers for now
