PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,
What's a fascinating talk by our Guest Speaker Tracy last Monday, she certainly is a very busy lady and surprisingly she has time to include Rotary in her busy schedule, but isn't it the busy ones who always find the time! Well done Tracy! And welcome to our Club!    In fact Tracy might have to extend her house at Cammeray to allow for all the interest in her Pilates classes, but Tracy, I would wait until they sign up first.
For the last two months, the Club has been trialling an evening slot every second week at 7.30pm.  However, attendance hasn’t increased a lot from our 12.30pm lunchtime meetings.  Therefore, at our Board Meeting Wednesday 16th Sept, one of the agenda items for discussion is the future of the evening meeting.  Do we think we should continue with the evening Meeting?  Any thoughts on the matter will be considered!

It is with regret that this week I have been obliged to accept a resignation from a longstanding member of our Club, John.   It has always been good to see him at our meetings.   He was a valued member, participating in all facets of Rotary and his wife also, who attended all our main functions.   Thank you John for your service to our Club in the many roles you have worked in.  We shall miss you and, remember you are always welcome at our meetings. Our Best Wishes for the future, John.

A great way to understand Rotary is go to our Facebook page.   It continues to be very pleasing to see our member, Swapna's results on the interest shown to our Facebook page, both within and outside of Australia.  Keep up the good work Swapna!
Finally, I request the support of all members to support the sale of our Melbourne Cup Trifecta tickets in this time of pandemic restrictions.  Currently this is our only fund raising activity for this year due to the cancellation of our Bunnings BBQ’s indefinitely.  And this week we need volunteers to kick off with ticket stapling at Cyril’s home.
Also, a reminder that our Treasurer, Owen, has now issued the Subscription invoices for our dues for the second half of the year, so please action promptly to reduce Owen’s work load, thanks.
Note, we have some very interesting Speakers coming up each Monday over the next month, so don’t miss out, see the list below.
Stay Safe

2020 - 2021
Our Next Meeting on Monday 21st September 2020  -  Robyn Pender presenting National Stroke Week 2020
Should be good, and a shock to our system!  Join us next Monday at 7.30pm.

This year, National Stroke Week is perhaps more important than ever.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, we have seen fewer people calling triple zero (000) and going to hospital at the first signs of stroke. In these times we are relying on our F.A.S.T. heroes to save lives by recognising the signs of stroke (Face, Arms, Speech and Time).

You can be a F.A.S.T. hero and save the life of a loved one, a colleague, a stranger or even yourself by understanding the F.A.S.T. message and calling an ambulance straight away if you suspect a stroke.
