Phil advised that for this year,our Club will be sponsoring two boys from North Sydney Boys School for RYLA.
Phil will be leaving this week for a motor cycling adventure in Southern India,Ride for Rotary 2,
Sue Raveane attended PETS last Saturday,the theme for next year is "BE the Inspiration"
Ian advised that the contribution money,some $6500,has now been paid to the Mewat ,India Project for Toilet Installations
visit was paid to the Clontarf Foundation,at their Chifley College-Dunheved Campus,St Marys North.Clontarf is one of our annual Grant Recipients.
Starting with a 5:50am morning kick off,via bus, picking up a dozen aboriginal boys and bringing them back to the school for an intensive exercise and games programme ,followed by a hot breakfast-all before school starts.This happens twice a week with a staff of three.A most impressive programme,and our Club should feel proud to be involved in this type of work
Our Guest Speakers this week were Sister Carmel McDonough and Tina Di Sano from Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College.Sister Carmel ,we had met previously and Tina,one of the key staff members for the Timor Leste Immersion Project.Monte's plan is to build a Teacher Professional Learning Centre in Maliana,Timor Leste.The plan incorporates six separate buildings at a projected cost of some $650,000 to be built over the next two years.Our plan is to develop a working committee of Angelo,Howard and Ian to work with Monte to determine just how our Club can work with Monte to establish a workable project within the total plan .
