PRESIDENT'S COLUMN

This week we had a quiet meeting with only a few of us there. Thank you to AG Ward Pollard for attending and giving us his input. Thank you to Phil Smith for taking the time to prepare a presentation for us on his ride across Australia. What an adventure, and it looks like he has more to come - amazing to see what our beautiful country has to offer. Sue and Angelo were also back from their holiday and that sounded wonderful - from Israel/Jordan and up through England and Scandinavia, it added a few destinations to my list. The stories of holidays, trips and adventures is what fellowship is all about and inspires us all to travel wider and more.

We also discussed meeting formats, moving forward and the idea of shifting from a speaker every week to once a fortnight and each alternate week being a forum/breakout session for committees to generate further projects, work on current ones and increase involvement. I have asked members to brainstorm projects that they would like to work on in the local community so that we can start to implement and focus on a couple of them. Please give me your feedback. See you next week,
Yours in Rotary

MEETING ROSTER

Next Meeting is MONDAY 24th July.

Adopting our new format, every other Monday we will not have a speaker, but will have a Club meeting and discussion to concentrate on our current activities.  The future of our Club is an important subject which every member can contribute too!  Please come along and offer your suggestions!

LAST MONDAY's Meeting - July 17th.

Adopting our new Club format, every other week we will be having a Club discussion on our current activities.
Discussion last week concentrated on  "Crows Nest Rotary - Our Future Existence":

President Alon suggested we need to identify worthy organisations who serve our community in our local area, who need assistance, both monetary and physical assistance.
- Philip mentioned Marys House
- Sue suggested she approach the police for suggestions
- Catholic Care was mentioned
- a community grant application is in the process of being granted
- and the Kenya District 9212 have advised they are unable to contribute to the Club's Kenya project, therefore the future of the project needs to be determined with RI.
- Angleo gave a quick report on the progress of the 2017 Trifecta Tickets project, and advised that 8 Rotary Clubs had already signed up at this early stage, so the project is going well to schedule.

Our member Philip Smith gave a short presentation about his recent trip around Australia on the Coast Road, 'A1', on a motorcycle, 19,370 kilometres.  Philip showed some interesting photos and spoke of his being the Secretary of the Rotary Fellowship's Australian Chapter,' the International Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians'.  Membership of the Fellowship is approximately 140 Rotarians who reside all around Australia.
